Studio

A small studio making games differently.

Acid of Base — AOB — is an independent game studio under Orvantis. The name is a chemistry joke. The work isn't.

What we build

Games, and the tools that make them.

We make original games that load fast and run everywhere. Right now that means browser games — arcade-length things you can finish in a sitting, and larger projects we're still figuring out in public.

Alongside the games we build the tooling: renderers, asset pipelines, netcode experiments. Some of it becomes a game. Some of it becomes something we publish for other developers.

Why we exist

Because good games shouldn't need good hardware.

A lot of modern games quietly assume a fast machine, a fast connection and a spare 80 gigabytes. That excludes a huge number of people for no good reason.

AOB exists to make games that don't make those assumptions. Free to start, quick to load, playable on the laptop you already have. That constraint makes the work harder and, honestly, more interesting.

How we work

Experiment first. Ship when it's real.

We prototype a lot and abandon plenty. If something isn't fun at low fidelity, more polish won't save it.

We'd rather say a project is unfinished than dress it up. Anything on this site marked in development is exactly that — no release date, no pre-orders, no promises we can't keep.

Orvantis

Independent, with a parent.

Acid of Base is an independent game studio operating under Orvantis. Orvantis handles the wider structure; AOB handles the games.

Creative and technical decisions are ours. The relationship gives us room to experiment without turning the studio into a product roadmap.

StudyRafiki

Partner and Contractor

Acid of Base builds games for StudyRafiki both educational and general games.

Architecture and code is ours, the second platform for our games is StudyRafiki
